THINGS TO KNOW

Recommended Eye Health Examination by the Canadian Association of Optometrists:

Infants and toddlers (birth to 24 months) – By age 6 months

Preschool (2 to 5 years) – At age 3, and prior to entering elementary school

School age (6 to 19 years) – Annually

Adult (20 to 64 years) – Every 1 to 2 years

Older adult (65 years and older) – Annually

Children 19 and under and seniors 65 and older are fully covered by their valid care card.

How long does the Eye Exam take?

Generally from check-in to checkout we will need you here for 1 hour. This includes pre-testing, full eye exam with one of our optometrists and a consultation with a licensed optician.

What is Dry Eye Disease?

Dry Eye is a disease, not just symptoms. Do you ever experience irritating symptoms in your eyes such as dryness, itching, scratching, stinging, burning, or a gritty feeling? Symptoms such as these may actually be the result of what is known as Dry Eye Disease, which can occur if the lacrimal glands stop producing enough tears or if tears evaporate too quickly from the surface of the eye.

There are a number of reasons why this may happen, such as the use of topical drugs and contact lenses or being in a low humidity environment. In these cases, Dry Eye Disease symptoms can usually be treated by eliminating the cause.
